What is Shared lives?

Shared Lives carers open up their home and family life to welcome an adult with support needs. They come from all walks of life and don’t need qualifications or experience, just:

  • the right attitude,
  • a warm comfortable spare room,
  • a willingness to truly share their lives with another person

As well as competitive rates of pay, you will receive thorough training and regular ongoing support. Shared Lives carers are carefully selected and trained by a regulated Shared Lives scheme.

Who can I support?

In Northamptonshire Shared Lives carers can support older people, people living with dementia or adults with a learning disability or mental health need.

What could I earn?

As a carer you can earn up to £800 per week depending on the number of people you support and their individual needs.

Some carers support people for short periods of time while their usual carers
take a break, others offer ongoing care, providing a supportive family environment for the longer term.
